Śavasana

Śavasana, aka corpse pose, is how most of us spend the last few minutes of a movement practice. This state of dynamic stillness allows our systems to integrate all that we’ve experienced in the movement, the breathing, and the mindfulness of our practice. The first yogic text to say much about the body, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, states that śavasana “removes fatigue and gives rest to the mind.” Even in the 15th century, they had fatigue and busy minds!

If you find these few minutes of stillness challenging, you are not alone. This is a common experience, and a sign that you could really benefit from a little rest of body and mind.
