If you’re like me, journaling is totally not your thing. However, it can be such a great way to gain insight and move the needle forward with transformation. I invite you to give this version a try.
Set a timer for 5-10 minutes. Move your body in any way that feels good. Dance. Rebound. Go for a brisk walk. Have a tantrum. Any type of movement that your body likes.
When the timer goes off, reset it for another 5-10 minutes and sit down with a journal or pen and paper (hard copy, not digital). Free write if that’s your style, or use these prompts to get started:
- What makes every cell in my body light up with joy?
- What would I do if I weren’t afraid?
- What can I celebrate in this moment?
- What is something I’d like to finish?
Don’t overthink it. Just write until the timer goes off. Then go back through what you’ve written and circle, underline, or highlight any words or phrases that seem important. Then use what stood out to write a one-sentence take away.
Allow any awareness gained to be kind. Not judging or attaching narratives. Just noticing what came up for you, and choosing one action to take as a result.
