Faith-Based Yoga

A balanced yoga practice encompasses the whole person – the physical, energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions. In addition to movement, breath work, and mindfulness tools, faith-based yoga incorporates practices of devotion to God. These may include worship, prayer, and ritual.

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Mark 12:30-31

In the faith-based yoga classes I teach, God refers to the God of the Christian Bible. You can expect to hear references to God as a loving Father who has good things for us, Jesus as the reason why we live and move and breathe in freedom, and the Holy Spirit as our companion and guide through this sometimes crazy life. This is worship in motion, soul care in it’s most wholistic sense.

For in Him we live, and move, and have our being.

Acts 17:28a

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
