What is yoga therapy?
“Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups.” -International Association of Yoga Therapists
Yoga therapy is wellness, simplified. It’s yogic wisdom personalized for your lived experience.
It integrates mindful movement, breathwork, somatic tools, and nervous system support to help you feel better in body, mind, and spirit. Sessions are fully individualized to meet your needs, with practices rooted in therapeutic goals—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual.
We work together to shift patterns in how you move, breathe, think, and live, so your body can do what it’s designed to do: move toward balance and healing.
Note: Yoga therapists do not diagnosis or treat. Yoga therapy is not a replacement for traditional medical care.
What is embodiment?
Embodiment is the practice of being consciously connected to your body, moment by moment, in a way that shapes how you live, relate, and respond.
It’s more than awareness; it’s how your posture, breath, and movement reflect (and influence) your thoughts, emotions, and actions. It’s learning to shift patterns in a way that is intentional and more aligned.
In embodied practice, we explore:
- How stress, joy, or anxiety shows up in the body
- How movement habits shape mindset (and vice versa)
- How to build presence, resilience, and authenticity through somatic awareness
Why work with me?
It’s not about fixing. You are not broken. This is transformation. I bring deep listening, trauma sensitivity, and professional experience to support your growth in a grounded, empowering way. If you’re craving a more compassionate relationship with your body (and a path out of depletion) I’m here to support you with person-centered care and practical tools.
Yoga therapists are professionals who undergo several years of training in both western and eastern anatomy and physiology, nervous system science, western psychology and eastern philosophy, and navigating the therapeutic relationship with individuals and groups.
I help high-functioning people whose bodies are pushing back learn how to work with their nervous system, so daily life stops feeling like a constant effort. It you are someone who:
- does “all the right things,” but still feels exhausted, tense, or not great about your relationship with yourself
- keeps trying harder, and it’s just not working
- believes in mind-body work, but are tired of self-managing alone
- feels like it shouldn’t be this hard
then this work is for you. If this resonates with you, let’s work together to relinquish what’s holding you back and help you step into possibility.

What Others Are Saying
I have lots of developmental trauma and have struggled with depression much of my life. At my request Christina created a series of morning movements for me, to help me with the voices of fear and dread I sometimes wake up with. After waking up, most mornings I go outside and do these movements. They take 10 minutes. They aid me in turning away from the voices and feeling my body sensations instead.
I have experienced increasing ease in the past two months, which is wonderful! I do many things to help my mental health, but i can tell that these morning movements are a core part of my life getting better!
Christina Cohee is a gift to the healing community and to the world. Depression and trauma can be devastating; she is doing the holy work of bringing healing to those of us struggling with those. Thank you, Christina!
